The GIPZ subsidiary, Direct Connect AS, has signed a contract with Finnmark Fylkeskommune, a regional government for the northernmost part of Norway, for deployment and operation of a public wireless broadband network in the following counties: Berlevåg Kommune, Hammerfest Kommune, Kautokeino Kommune, Nordkapp Kommune, and Tana Kommune.
The GIPZ subsidiary, Direct Connect AS, has been awarded the contract with Voss Kommune, a local county government located in the Western part of Norway, to build and operate a public wireless broadband network on the Western coast of Norway. The contract is the first contract Direct Connect has signed under the Norwegian Government’s program “Höykom” (high speed communication) where the local county, Voss, together with the Norwegian Government will finance the full deployment of a so called pre-WiMAX based solution for large geographical areas within the county.
GIPZ AS invests in the Norwegian Internet service provider Direct Connect AS, a company distributing broadband services (DSL) on the existing cable network infrastructure owned by the incumbent telecommunication company.
